2012 IN REVIEW…kinda

A non-sequential, non-sensical review of 2012...

2012 was a long year. 366 days I’m told.  That extra day seemed a lot longer than a day, yeah?

I’m glad to see it end and eagerly looking forward to what 2013 has in store .  Nonetheless, here is a non-sensical, non-sequential, non-thought-out bunch of images from my 2012.  I literally went through month for month and posted the first one that caught my eye.  That’s the extent that I thought about this.  It’s amazing – and exhausting to scroll through a years worth of work (t’s more of an exercise to see everything you’ve done).

This really only covers a very small portion of my year up to September of 2012 – you’ll see why come Monday (stay tuned).

Hope you guys have a great 2013!

Tis the Season; Come get animated

MERRY GIFMAS, ER’BODY!  Yesterday I invited some of my friends from around the area to join me in the studio for the first Annual ‘Merry Gifmas’ photo shoot.  I knew it would be fun, but wow – things got crazy.  What you see below you is a straight up gif party.

It was wonderful to have some old friends in the studio and was equally fantastic to make some new friends.  It’s the gif that keeps on giving.

Merry Gifmas and a Happy New Year!

*Just a fair warning, let these guys load before you leave the page.  Gif can be pretty big files sometimes.  Be patient!

Introducing Andrew Ray Hirschy

It gives me the greatest of joys to introduce you all to my son, Andrew Ray Hirschy.  I couldn’t be more proud.

Andrew was born on October 18th and 8:22pm.  He was 6 lbs 10 oz and 21 inches long… and immediately blew my world to pieces in the best way possible.  I’ve been to some of the world’s most exotic and beautiful places, but my child looking up at me for the first time beats all of that by an infinite margin.  I can’t wait to take him to the high and exotic places with me.

Who is up for a Father-Son photo tour to Everest come 2030?

In less than 30 minutes from his birth time, I had filled an entire 16 gig card.  I assume this is normal for photographer dads?

November Wallpaper – Autumn

A November wallpaper dedicated to the changing seasons, fresh eyes, & falling leaves...

Fall is hands down my favorite season.

Living in western China we rarely experience a typical fall.  The altitude, brutally cold climate, and lack of trees conspire together to make Autumn a season that basically doesn’t exist.  Skipping fall every year can be a huge bummer.

But not this year.  The falling leaves, brilliant colors, and crisp mornings are all something I’d been looking forward to.  The last few weeks I’ve been up with the sunrise photographing it all (credit our huge east-facing windows).  I can honestly say it’s a beautiful thing to experience Autumn with ‘fresh‘ eyes.

Thus I present you with my November 2012 Fall Wallpaper(s):

This desktop wallpaper is a bit of a departure from the normal fall seasonal photography you typically see.  I wanted to put something out that had some dark atmosphere to it and a little less typical colorful ‘leafy-ness.’  Above is what I came up with.   By the way, I did take a whole bunch of  ‘colorful leafy’ pictures and posted them below for all the fall photography purists.

I hope you are all having a wonderful fall season!
