The Photography of Brian Hirschy: Lights//Camera//Joy. Brian Hirschy possesses passion is unique photos of unique places and people that express a vision for lighting techniques, humanity, and creativity that is found in every culture. I especially enjoy showing the dichotomy of modernization and it’s effects, both good and bad, on those cultures experiencing it for the first time.

So true. Thanks for your comment!

I always like to see their expression when I tell them "Don't worry, I won't eat you"

Hi Brian.
Excellent post. For me the most amazing is how it changes people's expression with a few key words.

I had just finished making a portrait on our walk (we were in the most touristy area of Chengdu=harder to make decent portraits) and one of our walkers asked me "how is it that you are able to approach people and take their picture without them freaking out?"

My response was simple: smile, talk to them and take the time to listen. The language is really such a huge factor here. Like you said it usually brings an immediate smile to their face and from there you know you are in!

Yeah - It's awesome! I watched what he was doing and then I left - and then I went back because what he was doing was so cool. He had stacks and stacks of them and if I understood him right, they actually paint them onto the wall - Super cool.
